The Chaturanga Strength Intensive
A 3-day live intensive for yoga teachers and practitioners who want to develop the upper-body strength, stability and control behind Chaturanga, instead of relying on more alignment cues.
You know what Chaturanga should look like
But knowing the shape isn't the same as having the capacity to control it.
Maybe you:
collapse through your shoulders
can't lower slowly
feel shaky halfway down
struggle to keep your elbows and shoulders organised
fatigue quickly
can hold plank, but lose control when you lower
keep getting told to “engage your core” without actually solving the problem
You may not have an alignment problem.
You may have a strength and capacity problem.
And that's trainable.

It's a strength skill.
To control your body as you lower into Chaturanga, you need to coordinate and load multiple systems at once:
Shoulders
Scapular stabilisers
Chest
Triceps
Core & trunk
Wrists & forearms
Hips & legs
If one part isn't able to contribute effectively, something else often compensates.
This intensive helps you understand those demands — and progressively train them.
Chaturanga isn't just a yoga pose
The approach
We don't chase the shape. We build the capacity.
Assess
Understand what your body is actually doing and identify where you may be losing control.
Isolate
Train the individual components of upper-body and trunk strength that contribute to the movement.
Strengthen
Progressively build your ability to produce and control force.
Integrate
Bring those components back into Chaturanga and other load-bearing movements.
Apply
Learn how to continue developing the strength after the intensive ends
Instead of repeatedly attempting Chaturanga and hoping it improves, we'll break down the movement and train the qualities that support it.
3 DAYS. ONE MOVEMENT
A LOT MORE UNDERSTANDING
Foundation
Understand
We'll train the components.
Progressive strength work for pushing, scapular control, trunk stability and eccentric strength.
You'll learn how to scale the work to your current level.
Day 1
Build
We'll bring the pieces back together.
Apply your new strength and control to Chaturanga, transitions and other load-bearing asana.
You'll leave with a clearer understanding of how to continue training beyond the workshop.

DWhat actually happens in Chaturanga?
We'll explore the movement mechanics, common strength gaps and the role of the shoulders, scapulae, arms and trunk.
You'll begin identifying what is limiting your own practice.
Integrate
Meet Chhavi
Yoga teacher. Movement educator. Strength nerd.
I've been teaching yoga for over a decade.
Over time, I became increasingly interested in a simple question:
What happens when the body doesn't yet have the capacity to do what we're asking it to do?
A practitioner can understand alignment.
They can know every cue.
They can be extremely flexible.
And still lack the strength and control required for a movement.
That's the gap my work explores.
I combine my experience in yoga with strength and movement education to help teachers and practitioners develop greater physical capacity for asana.

This is for you if...

Or you're a practitioner who:
wants to finally understand why Chaturanga feels so difficult
wants to build strength without abandoning your yoga practice
is working toward arm balances or inversions
wants more control in your vinyasa practice
You do not need to already be strong.
You need to be willing to train

You're a yoga teacher who:
doesn't feel confident demonstrating Chaturanga
wants to develop a stronger personal practice
struggles with upper-body strength
feels unstable under load
wants to understand the physical demands behind asana
wants better tools for progressing challenging movements
has been practicing for years but still feels limited by strength

What this isn't
This isn't another workshop where you're given five more cues for “perfect alignment.”
It's not an anatomy lecture.
It's not a high-intensity fitness class disguised as yoga.
And it's not about making your Chaturanga look prettier.
It's about developing the physical capacity to control what you're asking your body to do.

Why Chaturanga
Because Chaturanga is one of the clearest examples of a larger gap in yoga education.
We often teach practitioners:
What the pose should look like.
But not always:
How to build the capacity to control it.
Strength training gives us another way to approach the problem.
Not as a replacement for yoga.
As a tool that can make your yoga practice more capable.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be able to do Chaturanga already?
No. The workshop is specifically designed to help you build the capacity required to control the movement.
What if I'm not very strong?
That's completely fine. You'll work through appropriate progressions and regressions based on your current capacity.
Is this suitable for beginners?
Yes. You don't need previous strength-training experience.
Is this a yoga workshop?
It's a strength and movement intensive specifically designed around the needs of yoga practitioners. You will still be working with movements that directly relate to your yoga practice, but this isn't a conventional yoga class.
Will this help with arm balances and inversions?
The strength and control you develop can be relevant to other load-bearing asana, including arm balances and inversion preparation. However, the primary focus of this intensive is Chaturanga and the physical capacities behind it.

You don't need more cues
You need more capacity.
3 days. Live. Progressive. Built specifically for yoga teachers and practitioners.
What changes when
you do the work.
Less Compression More Ease
Your body feels lighter and less compressed while sitting. The heaviness that used to build through the day starts to lift.
Posture that holds itself
Postural fatigue appears later, and when it does, you notice and self-correct. The body has learned a new baseline.
Less stiffness by evening. More clarity in the afternoon. A workday that leaves you tired but not depleted.
Energy that lasts
Body awareness that stays
You develop a genuine understanding of how your body moves, and what it needs. The practice becomes self-sustaining.
A practice to continue
You leave with a 35-40 minute movement practice you can maintain independently- not a dependency, but a foundation.
